“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.”
Margaret Wheatley (Turning to One Another, 2002)
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it’s not.”
Dr. Seuss (The Lorax, 1971)
The 2020 YRL conference theme is Connecting with Care: The Power of Libraries and reflects the connections that are at the heart of library work. Each day, we are called to connect with our communities, our customers, our technology, our resources and with each other. We challenge ourselves to make these connections meaningful by developing a culture of care in our libraries and in our work.
Connecting with care encourages us to:
Connect with one another to build our library skills and knowledge.
Lead and govern our libraries with care and compassion.
Develop and deepen our connections to our library’s community and our customers.
Engage in meaningful ways with the technology and resources we use every day in our libraries.
We look forward to welcoming school and public library staff, trustees, vendors and guests at this full-day professional development event. The conference will feature breakout sessions as well as opportunities to network with and learn from each other.
Registration for Connecting with Care: The Power of Libraries opens on May 15, 2020
